Bhoot Bangla Review: Is Akshay Kumar Still That Entertainer?

Let’s be honest — this question has been floating around for a while now.
Is Akshay Kumar still the same entertainer we grew up watching? Or is it time for him to step away from his old-style films?

Bhoot Bangla tries to answer that… but not in a straightforward way.

Bhooth Bangla Movie

Story (Without Spoilers)

The story is set in a village where a strange fear controls people’s lives. Newly married brides keep disappearing, and everyone believes it’s the work of a supernatural force.

Because of this, people are actually scared to even get married.

The film builds on that fear and slowly pulls you into a haunted house mystery. But the real twist begins when someone tries to challenge this belief — and ends up putting everyone in danger.

To survive, they must go back into the past and uncover what’s really going on.

Performances

Akshay Kumar carries the film on his shoulders.

sssss

He switches between comedy and serious moments very smoothly — something not many actors can pull off easily. In some scenes, you’ll laugh without even realizing it.

Tabu comes in later, but once she appears, the whole story takes a different direction. You start paying more attention.

Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal are just fun to watch. Their comedy feels natural, not forced, and honestly, they save many scenes.

What Feels Good

  • The comedy has that old-school feel — simple but effective
  • The second half becomes more interesting
  • Some twists are actually surprising
  • It’s easy to watch with family

What Could Be Better

  • The horror part doesn’t feel strong enough
  • The climax feels a bit rushed
  • Tabu’s character had more potential
  • Background music doesn’t create tension
