5 Big Bollywood Sequels of 2025 That Flopped Badly

In 2025, Bollywood released many sequel films with huge budgets and big stars. Expectations were high, but the results were disappointing. Several big sequels failed badly at the box office.

In this blog, we are talking only about big-budget Bollywood sequels (₹100 crore+) that flopped in 2025.

5. De De Pyaar De 2

The first De De Pyaar De (2019) was a superhit. But its sequel failed to impress the audience.

The film repeated the same age-gap romance and family drama. There was nothing fresh in the story. Also, a ₹150 crore budget was too high for a romantic comedy in today’s box office climate.

Box Office Collection:

  • India: ₹70 crore

  • Worldwide: ₹104 crore

  • Budget: ₹150 crore

Because of a weak story and high budget, the film flopped.

4. Baaghi 4

The Baaghi franchise already had a bad reputation. When Baaghi 4 was announced, many people expected another over-the-top action film.

Despite claims of a new approach, the movie had the same violence, action scenes, and style seen in earlier parts. Many viewers found it repetitive and cringe.

Box Office Collection:

  • India: ₹45 crore

  • Worldwide: ₹66 crore

  • Budget: ₹80 crore

The film failed due to lack of originality.

3. Housefull 5

Housefull 5 was one of the most expensive films of 2025. Initially, its budget was said to be ₹375 crore, later reported as ₹240 crore.

The first half was decent, but the second half was boring. The comedy depended mainly on vulgar jokes. Even the idea of releasing the film with two climaxes did not help.

Box Office Collection:

  • India: ₹160 crore

  • Worldwide: ₹240 crore

  • Budget: ₹240 crore

Due to weak writing and high cost, the film flopped.

2. Son of Sardar 2

The original Son of Sardar (2012) was loved by audiences. Sadly, the sequel disappointed.

The film used old slapstick jokes and had a weak script. The absence of Sanjay Dutt also affected audience interest.

Box Office Collection:

  • India: ₹43 crore

  • Worldwide: ₹60 crore

  • Budget: ₹150 crore

Poor comedy and weak storytelling led to its failure.

1. War 2

War 2 was one of the most awaited films of 2025. With Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, expectations were sky-high.

Many thought the film would cross ₹1000 crore. But the movie failed due to a weak story, clichéd action, and direction.

Box Office Collection:

  • India: ₹185 crore

  • Worldwide: ₹300 crore

  • Budget: ₹400 crore

Because of its massive budget and repetitive content, War 2 became the biggest sequel flop of 2025.
