one of my favorites too—the Hero Xpulse 200 4V. Let me explain why this bike is so loved. First of all, the price is almost half of the Himalayan, yet the features you get are right up there. When it comes to off-roading, this is easily one of the best bikes in its segment.

The bike comes with a 196.6cc air-cooled, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine. Let me show you up close.
To start with, you get both kick-start and self-start options. The bike produces a maximum torque of 17.35 Nm, and being a single-cylinder setup, it stays simple and reliable.
In terms of looks, it has a premium and rugged design. The moment you start it, you can hear that crisp engine note—cameraman, let’s play that sound once!
As you move forward, you’ll notice the high-mounted exhaust. This is a big advantage because even on flooded roads or rocky trails, the bike won’t stall easily.
Now coming to features—look at the stance of this bike. Even someone around 6 to 6.7 feet can ride it comfortably, thanks to the tall posture and spacious seating. You also get hazard lights, and the front design looks sharp with the iconic Hero “H” logo.
At the front, you get ABS (anti-lock braking system), which is a must for off-roading. The tires are huge—21-inch front wheels, which give incredible stability on rough terrain. No wonder this bike is extremely popular in Kerala, where off-roading culture is strong.
On the side, you’ll see the 4V badging and the Xpulse branding. Again, notice the raised silencer—just like the Himalayan, but at almost half the price.
The seat is wide, comfortable, and premium. At the rear, you get flexible indicators that won’t break easily, along with a tough mudguard and solid grab rails.
The switchgear includes power cut, self-start, neutral indicator, and hazard switch. The digital instrument cluster is quite impressive—it shows top speed (up to 180 km/h), trip meters, and more.
Here’s the key design—simple and practical.
The fuel tank is a 13-liter unit, and the sticker work gives it a nice refreshed look. You also get fuel injection, a 5-speed gearbox, 66.5 mm bore, 57.5 mm stroke, and a 10.5:1 compression ratio. It’s a BS6 model, and the gear shifting pattern is 1 up, 4 down.
Seat height is 825 mm, so even someone around 5’5” to 5’7” can ride it comfortably. Ground clearance is a massive 220 mm, and the weight is around 160 kg—light enough for off-road enthusiasts.
You get LED lights, LED indicators, 276 mm front disc, 220 mm rear disc, and a top speed of around 135 km/h.
Peak power is 19.16 PS at 8000 RPM, which is quite strong for this category.
Suspension includes 190 mm front telescopic travel and 170 mm rear mono-shock travel. The tires are 90/90-21 (front) and 120/80-18 (rear)—both tubeless.
Service intervals:
• 1st service → 750 km
• 2nd service → 3500 km
• 3rd service → 6500 km
Now the important part—prices:
• Xpulse 200 4V STD → ₹1,40,000 (ex-showroom)
• Xpulse 200 4V Pro → ₹1,52,000 (ex-showroom)
• Xpulse 200 4V Pro Dark Edition → ₹1,54,797 (ex-showroom)
On-road, you’re looking at around ₹1.80 lakh for base and close to ₹2 lakh for the top-end model depending on your city.
Mileage-wise, you get around 35 kmpl in the city, which is quite good considering its off-road nature and power.
Personally, I’d suggest going for the top-end Dark Edition—you get front and rear discs, better styling, and it feels more premium overall.
