Bollywood keeps remaking Malayalam films to turn their actors into superstars, but honestly, when it comes to suspense thrillers, no one can match Malayalam cinema.

It all started with “Kaand,” a mystery film where a monkey sits on a tree and listens to the radio. And now the same director has made another film that people are calling the Malayalam film of the year — Eko.
The hero dogs, villain dogs, supporting dogs… the mountains add beauty and the jungle doubles the suspense. Visually, this could be one of the most stunning films ever shot.
The title “Eko” may be short, but the movie is massive. I can confidently say Bollywood can’t even dream of making something like this.
And the climax? Easily one of the best in Indian cinema between 2000 to 2025.

⭐ Story
The film is set in a small village near a mountain. There’s one tiny house at the edge, where a Malaysian woman has been living alone for years. People think she knows black magic, so everyone avoids her. But she’s not exactly alone — she lives with several trained dogs.
Anyone who enters that area thinking “it’s just a dog” never comes back.
Because of these strange incidents, the local police start searching for the real owner of the house — a famous dog trainer who once lived there.
He loved dogs so much that he went from Karnataka to Malaysia just to study them, and he brought this woman back with him. But no one has seen this man alive for six years. Police call it a missing person case. The villagers think the woman killed him and took over the house. And the forest is so big that anything could have happened.
Just when the case reaches a dead end, a smart Navy officer enters the story. He believes the owner is still alive, hiding in the forest, watching everyone quietly.
The only person who can uncover the truth is the man now living in the house with the Malaysian woman.
But here’s the twist — he is not who he claims to be.

Every single character lies to the audience.
You think you know the story, but the movie hides the truth right in front of your eyes.
You’ve never seen animals used like this before in Indian films.
Some scenes will genuinely scare you.
Others will make you question whether things like this are even possible.

When this movie releases on OTT, it’s going to explode.
Everyone will talk about it.
Bollywood will immediately try to remake it.
But the charm of new faces and real acting won’t come from Bollywood’s plastic, glamour-heavy style.
Everything in this movie feels raw, natural, and real.
The mystery is unbeatable.
The climax is Oscar-level.
This is a 4.5/5 stars movie for me.
Watch it in theaters with subtitles if you can.
If not, wait for OTT — it’ll be worth it.
